First Dance Song Choices

So, you're down to a few of the last details for your wedding, and one of them is finalizing the song for your first dance. Some people know right away what song they want to use, and others struggle with it for weeks. Not wanting to be cliché or cheesy, but wanting something that captures their feelings.

Earlier this year I had the privilege of spending the day with Daryl & Nick, and I absolutely LOVED their first dance song. It was one I hadn't heard before, which, let's be honest, is rare when you are at weddings almost every weekend. (I've since been informed by my friend from Strouse Photography, who is also Allie B at Richmond's Hot 106.1, that I'll probably be hearing it a ton at weddings this year.) So apart from it being totally new to me, it was also totally perfect for them as a couple. They danced to "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. (Not only do I love the song, I also want to learn how to do the dance they do in the music video!)

After looking up the above song, I also came across another Ed Sheeran song that I LOVED. (In case you can't guess, Ed's going to be in the list of May's inspirations...) It's actually the song right after "Thinking Out Loud" on the album. It's called "Tenerife Sea", and I think it might be the best first dance song I've heard in a while. (Though, it is worth noting that he refers to the girls eyes as being blue, so if you are particular about those kinds of things and have brown or green eyes, you might want to look elsewhere.)

The next song is the one that I had planned to have for the first dance at my wedding... Ben Harper's "Forever". But... The day of the wedding I forgot my iPod and my musicians weren't able to find the music in time to learn it, so we had to settle for something else. (Though, I will always consider it to be our first dance song anyway!)

So, to condense it, here's my list of songs I think are awesome for a first dance:
