Engagement Session 101
So, you've booked your wedding and now we're talking engagement photos.
Here's what you need to know about your engagement shoot:
- The Basics:
- The shoot lasts anywhere from an hour to an hour-and-a-half. There have been cases that a session has lasted up to two hours, but this depends on the location of the shoot, and other factors.
- The shoot is a relaxed time for us to get to know each other better. Wedding days are usually run on a tight timeline, so this is our opportunity to just have fun and take all the time we want and need to capture some great memories for the two of you. This is also our "practice" for the wedding day. :o)
- Typically couples bring 2-3 outfits and change during the session to provide different looks and variety in the photos.
- Scheduling Your Photos:
- Scheduling photos is a fairly simple process. We compare schedules and work together to find a date and time that works for everyone.
- Typically sessions take place in the evenings a couple of hours before sunset, though other times can be accommodated if necessary.
- We also talk about location options. Some couples already have in mind where they'd like to have their photos taken. Other's want suggestions, and I'm happy to provide them if needed.
- Weekday evenings tend to be the easiest days for scheduling photos. Popular locations are less crowded and there is greater flexibility in my schedule on weekdays than on weekends since most weddings are on Saturday or Sunday throughout the Spring, Summer & Fall months.
- Other FAQs:
- What should I wear?!
- There's a post coming soon on that very question!
- What if it rains?
- I will keep a check on the weather during the week and days before our scheduled shoot and if it looks like rain, we'll make a call on whether to go ahead with the shoot, or to reschedule. As we all know, New England weather is a hard thing to predict, so I typically like to wait until two or three days before the shoot to make the decision to reschedule.
- When will we be able to see the photos?
- A sneak peek is typically posted to Facebook within 48 hours.
- Other images are posted to the blog in about a week.
- The entire session is posted to an online viewing site within two weeks.
- How do we go about getting images for Save-the-Dates?
- You have several options as far as Save-the-Dates are concerned.
- I can design and order your Save-the-Dates. This allows the use of an unlimited number of images and we work together to come up with a design that fits your vision. Prices are competitive with online retailers and provide a higher quality than most.
- I also have a partnership with two online retailers and am happy to provide up to three images for use with them.
- Minted.com
- TinyPrints.com
- If none of these options fit for you, I can also provide one image to my clients to use for Save-the-Dates. Any additional hi-res images can be purchased for a small fee. These images can be used to purchase Save-the-Dates from wherever you choose.
