July Inspirations
Loving
- The weather. There have been some hot days, but my oh my, the breeze and the sunshine. LOVE.
- Please note that this is in no way complaining about the heat. Last Winter taught me never to complain about the hot days... well, unless I'm in the South. Then I can complain all I want. Just no complaining about the hot days in New England.
- Coloring. My mom had an adult coloring book (and by adult coloring book, I mean a coloring book intended for adults because it has lots of intricate designs that would be too hard for kids to color) and let me color a page in it while we were visiting. It was color by number, and it was awesome. (Thanks Tory for the recommendation on the coloring books!!) I've since found a book of my own and I am enjoying the quiet moments with my coloring book.
- Walden Pond. While our visit there on July 3, was absolutely nothing like what Thoreau experienced, it was still a wonderful time with friends and family enjoying the outdoors and the warm water. As a Southerner, I was skeptical when they said it would be warm... I was told that about the ocean, too, and nope. Not warm at all. Walden Pond, though, felt awesome.
- Nature. During our visit back "home" my Uncle found a field of Sunflowers. Millions of them. I was able to take a few photos of family members amid the beauty, and even got to use my new selfie-stick...(It is completely okay for you to go ahead and judge me harshly.) More on the selfie-stick later...
Watching
- Still watching Dexter. The music has gotten a little bit scarier as the seasons have gone on. The story arc is crazy. And, who saw the thing with Rita coming? Wow. I was so not a fan when it happened, but I did like the introduction of Julia Stiles. She has been awesome.
Eating
- My Nana's food. I got to enjoy lots of home-cooked Southern meals prepared by my favorite Chef and the lady who taught me to cook. Oh so yum!!
- REAL Sweet Tea. From Alabama and Georgia. Enough said.
Listening
- Audio Books. In particular, the Vanessa Michael Munroe series. If you're looking for a thriller with a strong female lead, this is the series for you. I've never really done audio books before. I've mostly favored reading to listening, but the reader on this series, Hillary Huber, is phenomenal and my eyes have enjoyed the break lately.
